This week’s #FundingFriday post highlights grant programs that fund supportive services for people with Alzheimer’s disease, for math and science education, for collecting water use data, and more. Local, county and state governments are eligible to apply for these grants.
1. Department of Health and Human Services – Alzheimer’s Disease Supportive Services Program (ADSSP): Creating and Sustaining Dementia-Capable Service Systems for People with Dementia and their Family Caregivers
The objective of the Alzheimer’s disease Supportive Services Program (ADSSP) is to expand the availability of dementia-capable support services for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), their families and their caregivers. This goal will be achieved by: 1) enhancing the ability of state systems and programs to embed dementia-capability in their service networks; and 2) by delivering dementia-capable supportive services using evidence-based and/or evidence-informed interventions to support persons with dementia and their caregivers. The grantees receive targeted technical assistance provided by the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center.
2. Department of Education – Upward Bound Math and Science Program
The Upward Bound (UB) Program is one of the seven programs known as the Federal TRIO Programs. The UB Program is a discretionary grant program that supports projects designed to provide students with the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter into, and succeed in, a program of postsecondary education.
3. Department of the Interior – 2017 Water Use Data and Research
The Water Availability and Use Science Program (WAUSP) of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a two-year cooperative agreement opportunity to State water resource agencies that collect water use data to participate in the Water Use Data and Research (WUDR) program. This funding opportunity is to support State Water Resource agencies in the collection and reporting of water use data for the WUDR program.
4. Corporation for National and Community Service – 2017 AmeriCorps State and National Grants
AmeriCorps grants are awarded to eligible organizations proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions to strengthen communities. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who engages in community service through an approved national service position. Members may receive a living allowance and other benefits while serving. Upon successful completion of their service, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust that members can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans. This competition is for applicants proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in the following two areas: Healthy Futures – Reducing and/or Preventing Prescription Drug and Opioid Abuse and Safer Communities – Strengthening law enforcement and community relations.

Also, for ALZ programs out there — please remember that there are many local organizations and non-profits that often do great work and offer funding towards Alzheimer’s awareness. My wife and I would run a 5k every year for our local chapter of the Alz Foundation and it was such a blessing to know we were having fun and helping people at the same time. Asking around in the local community can often turn up some incredible funding opportunities!

will you please help me because I don’t have no place to stay I’m staying with my daughter right now and membersand some of my best friends it is so hard no transportation no, benefits the children treat you like a stepmother but I sign up for disability I am waiting on a hearing it is so hard all I receive is food stamps please help me in Jesus name
