#FundingFriday: Sorting through the 250+ New Grants in November

We are just 10 days into November, and federal grant-making agencies have posted over 250 new funding opportunity announcements (FOA) on Grants.gov.

We all know winter is coming, so let’s find a nice FOA to cozy up with next to the fireplace.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

More than half the November FOAs were posted by NIH. Faculty diversity in biomedical research? Drug Abuse Research? Transfusion Medicine? Bioengineering Research Grants? We could keep going for a while, so we recommend you search through the NIH grants here.

Department of State (DOS)

The DOS Bureau of Democracy Human Rights and Labor has posted 12 grants so far in November. These opportunities include Religious Freedom Programing in India and Sri Lanka, Promoting Human Rights in Nicaragua, and Promoting Non-Discrimination With Respect to Persons with Disabilities in Saudi Arabian Civil Society and the Private Sector. Department of the Interior (DOI)

Agencies within DOI have posted 22 opportunities on Grants.gov so far in November. These include 10 by the Fish and Wildlife Service, 9 by the National Park Service, 2 by the Geological Survey, and 1 by the Bureau of Reclamation.

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

HHS is a large federal agency with many bureaus and agencies within it, including NIH (see above). There are also grants from HRSA, CDC, ACL, ACF, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health posted to Grants.gov. Use the “Agency” faceted search criteria to narrow your search results and look for these grants.

More Grants Posted in November Already?

  4. Hello, I’m a single mother on disability and living with my ver angry and miserable alcoholic mother who threatens to make my daughter and me homeless on a regular basis. I give her most of the $490 I get each month, but she’s gotten to be very difficult to live with. My daughter’s father is on drugs and I never receive from him. Don’t know where he is anyway. My daughter and I cling to each other and pray we would discover and acquire the funds we need to keep us safe and together while I can focus on getting my marketing business started. It’s been a long time passion for me, and I know enough already to where it shouldn’t take me more than a few months to really start seeing progress. I know with my limitations, I’m eligible for many things. I just don’t know where to start or how to apply to get approved. Please help us. Thank you

My home is in dire need of improvements, i. e., my safety, as well as others; stepping out of my back door is dirt and rocks (need a patio); I have no fence around my property, therefore, dogs & deer rampage any plants (I want to garden but the deer eat every thing), I need a 10′ fence; front porch railing is wood and rotting, need a new porch; windows in garage need replacing as they are very old and broken; 3 exterior doors are made of wood & are very old & let the cold in; sewer/water lines in basement must be replaced as leakage & seepage occurs (putrid odor seeps upstairs, causing breathing problems); basement floor is cement with very old tile, broken & discolored, on top of cement, all of tile needs replaced; bathtub is old and cracked, as well as the tile and caused water leakage; commode is old and needs replaced, as well as wash basin; windows in living are very old and cannot be opened due to many coats of paint which have glued them closed, need to replace windows; kitchen tile on wall needs replaced as it is cracked and old;
    I am 78 years of age and disabled: difficulty walking up and down; shortness of breath; 2 left knee surgeries; back surgery; left shoulder surgery; modified radical mastectomy breast cancer; cataract surgery in both eyes; macular degeneration in both eyes, get injections in eyes every 6 weeks and someone must drive me as my vision is very poor; glasses required to read; I suffer from chronic fatigue; fibromyalgia; osteoarthritis; arthritis.
