Opportunity: Mental Health Awareness Training Grants

Purpose: The purpose of this program is to train teachers and other relevant school personnel to recognize the symptoms of childhood and adolescent mental disorders; refer family members to appropriate mental health services if necessary; train emergency services personnel, veterans, law enforcement, and other categories of individuals to identify and appropriately respond to persons with a mental illness; and provide education to teachers and personnel regarding resources that are available in the community for individuals with mental illness.

Opportunity: Tribal Management Grant Program

Purpose: The purpose of this IHS grant announcement is to announce the availability of the Tribal Management Grant (TMG) Program to enhance and develop health management infrastructure and assist Tribes/Tribal Organizations (T/TO) in assuming all or part of existing Indian Health Service (IHS) Programs, Services, Functions, and Activities (PSFAs).

Opportunity: Research Grants for the Primary or Secondary Prevention of Opioid Overdose (R01)

Purpose: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance our understanding about what works to prevent overdose from prescription and illicit opioids by developing and piloting, or rigorously evaluating novel primary or secondary prevention interventions.

Purpose: The purpose of this program is to improve early identification and access to care for children and youth who have behavioral health issues. It is expected that this program will promote systems integration and policy change by using strategic approaches and guiding principles with a specific focus on collaboration between state and local systems.

    1. Searching “veterans” on Grants.gov pulls up several funding opportunities: https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html

      Note that generally federal grants are for non-federal organizations to then manage or implement a program to benefit veterans or others. Veterans themselves may not find benefits to apply for directly through Grants.gov (although there may be), so we recommend setting up a saved search to get an email when a new grant are posted. Also look at the Veterans Benefits Administration website and Benefits.gov:
